Df: God is that which nothing greater can be conceived.
Axiom: If A and B have identical qualities except A exists and B does not exist, A > B.
P1: God does not exist.
P2: a) is conceived to have all the qualities of God and to exist; therefore, by the axiom, a) is > than God.
P3: By the Df. of God, a) cannot be > than God.
P4: P2 contradicts P3.
(P1 is false by the law of contradiction. By the law of excluded middle, God must exist.)
If the definition and the axiom work, wouldn't the totality of everything itself (i.e. an infinite universe) be the "God" the argument speaks of?

it would seem to me that the use of the word "conceived" it a bit of a
BACK DOOR,,,and further p2 would imply this is nothing more than
a = not a if a has the qualities of god, then it is not greater, right?
and further if god doesnt exist {your p1} how is that a has these non
existant qualities ??????? seems a bit of a mess to me.

God is that which nothing greater can be conceived. If God does not exist and we can conceive Him as a concept existing, then we can conceive something greater than God; therefore, God must exist if the Df. and Axiom are accepted.

It's really an absurdly over-attended corner of the not-entirely consistent space of reason.

Something "seeming like" something is not a concern of philosophy. Perhaps it is a concern of dialogues about dating.

Sorry, I'm studying continental philosophy. I haven't taken any first-order-logic courses.
