Understanding belief and truth. 1 Year, 9 Months ago

Does one truly understand then believe what they understand? What is understanding without belief and vice versa? The same goes with the truth. Is it expierence or observation that we make our final judgement to understand or believe or vice versa. I told someone the other day what I swore was a truth...it came back to haunt me terribly! I question everything now. But if I have to question everything what truth do I have to believe it and stand on without question? I saw a illusion I thought I knew a truth I now don't. I am gounded on nothing which I can prove.

How do I prove everything I see I hear which is not a truth or a illusion? I see what I see and want to belive it is real. I want to believe everything I feel and taste is real. I want to believe my emotions are real. How can I understand and believe if I question everything? Thoughts please. pljamesone@att.net

I question everything now.Very good!I am gounded on nothing which I can prove.Look up "Cogito ergo sum". All of your doubt will dissipate.

I assume, because this is the R and S area that you are asking about Ultimate truth...not like "true or false, chocolate milk tastes good" sort of truth.

I think that Ultimate Truth exists, but since humans are finite creatures, and don't live very long, Ultimate Truth is not something that is within our grasp...but we experience and depend on the bits and pieces we do encounter daily.

88, Excellent reply. Truth is a hard word to define. In my old age I would like to think of truth as a individual belief. One thought one truth. Is that with ones heart mind or soul and is another thought altogether? Whats r&s? pljames
