"but the principles of logic were built into the universe from the beginning."
Were you there to see that?
If not, a statement like that requires some backing, doesn't it?

Indeed.
The Universe has causality, which is just
what we call one-thing-leads-to-another.
Nature's causality is usually complex and partial,
quite unlike logic.
Logic is simply a human abstraction,
and a narrow one at that.

Exactly! If you trow a buch of stones in the air and see how they fall down, you can (with some effort) always see a pattern in them, that does not mean they follow a sense of logic relevant to where they fall.
Its just a flaw (of sorts) of the human mind that we look for patterns and try to make it seem like it is universal.
Like:gravity, in theory it means everything goes to the centre of whatever planet or big mass is the closest, but alot of things just hang about without ever going lower, and even others are stopped by anything between here and the centre of the world.

People have come and gone here who said
Mathematics made the Universe.
And there is the ever-popular "Quantum Psychosis".
But they are just descriptive, handy models.
The "seeing patterns in things" is handy for
hunting, or coming up with starter theories.
It reaches its lowest point in casinos,
quack medicine, and political BS.
We are limited beings, so we have to
take a guess and try things, or we have
to approximate so we don't wait forever to
start the show. But we have to be honest
with ourselves about the inaccuracies and
the massive complexity of reality.
There is usually no easy explanation.

After all we are saying here in this thread that the Concept doesn't have to be logical, i.e. IT could be an outcome of our logical thinking, an outcome which could be arrived at in various ways.
However, what we mean by the Existence of the Concept, I prefer to say that it exists prior to the universe, which is like Man iff Man be the essential Being created by and for God, alpha and [b]omega.
Or are we coming to the conclusion of the old difficulty of dropping Man out of Creation. How did Kant mean that?: it's in the Parallogism: there is the psychological Ego and the empirical Ego. Once we have one we must have the other.

1) Logic was created by man.
2) Logic has been around since the beginning of time and man has not.
1 and 2 are consistent.
Damn, now I see why philosophy is so "easy" for most of you.
The liberties you take with language are the product of the constraints that ignorance has imposed upon your minds.
