The Destruction of "Touchdown Jesus" 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 4
In what could be interpreted as a telling confirmation of an Existentialist
premise, the famous 6-story high "Touchdown Jesus" in America's heartland was
hit by lightning and burned to the ground yesterday (it was steel, fiberglass
and foam). We could say the God "so isn't around" that he wouldn't even
stop this monstrous monument from being 'evilized'. There are a lot of
other things it could mean though. It is a lot like an idol, that the
Old Testament god didn't like, for example.

Of course, the pure Existential play is to say...it means nothing at all.
It's so tempting to say otherwise. It was tall, metal-skeletoned, and
in the open, of course.

Is there any meaning, if only to point out waste and silliness?

It could go from being a completely meaningless event or coincidence to being an act of God. Interpretation all depends on your original position.

Ask an atheist, they will say it was a meaningless event.
Ask a theist, and you will most likely get a mixed response, some saying it was a meaningless event, whilst others maintain that it did have meaning.

Just remember, interpretations are usually bias.

Just out of pure curiosity...

Was that located on church grounds in southwestern Ohio???

Nevermind...

Indeed it was. What a target. The same town has a Larry Flint Hustler store in it along with an adjacent strip club.

The abundancy of material for the local comedy club. It is an apologetics nightmare.

And that's how non-responsible psychological determinism changes, towards the measureless logical determinism. Actually L. Flint could have been Christ-like to that one.

Politically incorrect in either case: for or against weddings; do I know what I'm talking about?

That depends. Was the big plastic Jesus properly insured against acts of God?
