so,,, forgive my stupidity and lack of sophistication: but where might a dumb hick like me find an actual dissection of music in this guys work?
lets say : somthing like this----a meaningfull discussion of the progression from the poly tone alities of the stravinksy's ,, ravels, and
debussy's ,, to the serialists and then, how does one explain the fact that when Igor took up serialism it still sounded like russian folk music. and then further, the folks forms of coltrane et al took these structures and used them in the base form of african music.
next ,,,,we have the post modernest pre cursers,,, and how does all this really fit together ??????? I read not a word of understanding in the mans work, except that of a drunk at a football game .

Adorno did write books on Berg, Mahler, Wagner, the late Beethoven... In Prisms, there are a couple of essays on Bach.

Yes, Adorno was a student of Alban Berg. As for Prisms, it is readily available. I am sure that your library has it. Order it online. Bookstores with good philosophy sections will carry it.
Also, you might want to check out Thomas Mann's novel 'Doktor Faustus'. All of the philosophy of music in that novel originates with Adorno. Thomas Mann consulted him extensively. Leverkuhn is a Bergian/Adornoan character.
