I've been looking for a few evenings now, on google, whether Adorno thinks that one can only judge music in terms of technical concepts and knowledge.
Does Adorno think that to judge music you need technical knowledge?
Thank you

Adorno does not think that one can 'only judge music' in terms of a speciallized knowledge. Adorno's work on music and interpretation is much more complex than this, although I can see from where this question is coming. Might you be able to be more precise here? This would be helpful.

Adorno is your basic b flat ,,,post modernest critic, he speaks of music as an aesthetic in a social/philosopical context. It is my view that his ideas are much like comparing disco of the 80's tothe polychromaticism and
serial movements of the 1900's. of course you are going to say you can judge music with no knowledge if your living depends on bullshiting your way through it with no knowledge

Does any aesthetic judgment whether in music, literature, the fine arts, etc., require technical knowledge in order to be authoritative?
