Scholars, professionals and community members are invited to participate in the conference on "Politics, Pluralism and Religion" to be held at the Minnesota State University, Mankato on April 13-14, 2007. The conference is jointly sponsored by the Department of Philosophy of the Minnesota State University and Society for Indian Philosophy &
Religion.
The program will include plenary addresses, volunteered papers, invited papers and panel discussions. Please note a list of suggested topics for the Politics, Pluralism, & Religion conference: Religious pluralism, influence of religion on politics, science & religion, religion & human
rights, religion & feminism, citizenship, separation of church & state, faith & reason, secular reason, religion & law, civic virtue, religious conviction, secular humanism, epistemology of religious belief, first amendment, liberty of conscience, religion & war, liberalism, liberal
democracy, communitarianism, fundamentalism, legal moralism,
religious arguments in the public domain, religion & myth, religious & political claims about e.g., stem cell research and gay marriage.
Selected papers from the conference will be published in a special issue of the Journal of Indian Philosophy & Religion.
